Global Climate Finance Snapshot
At the December 2015 UNFCCC Paris Conference, 195 nations signed the Paris Agreement, committing to limit global warming to well below 2°C — but there was no transparent way to track climate financing. On 1 December, delegates approached Howoco with a concept sketch and an ambitious request: build a live platform to visualise climate funding within just three days. We responded with a dynamic, interactive website that displayed funding flows over time, complete with currency data, contextual links, and intuitive visual cues. The beta launched on 4 December and was demonstrated to the French delegation the very next day. Delivered under extraordinary pressure, the project’s speed, clarity, and impact left UNFCCC delegates deeply impressed.

The site featured a horizontal timeline layout, plotting pledges of varying sizes across it. Each funding round has a hover state displaying size of the pledge and the country it came from.
Zoomed-in view
Clicking on the coloured dots zooms into the timeline and further details relating to the particular pledge is displayed in a slide-out panel from the bottom.
